Baby on the pram

Yesterday I saw a baby on a pram.

Just 1 foot in front of the pram, a little ball was mischieviously rolling away.
The baby's eyes were on the escaping ball, with his hands reaching out for it.
The father was standing beside the baby but with his mind preoccupied with something else.
He then paced around the pram, like a lion protecting his young.
But he did not notice the runaway ball.

So the baby continued watching the ball and reaching out his hands.

Our lives are often like the baby's, aren't they?

Exchanges

Many times we care too much about what we do not have,
and neglect what we have.

Thus health is exchanged for excess fortunes,
Existing relationships are exchanged for various endeavors,
Stability is exchanged for changes,
Love is exchanged for jealousy and revenge.
Youth is exchanged for dreams.

After we get what we want,
Then we spend the rest of our days
trying to exchange what we have into what we originally have.

Control

We tend to think that we can control the outcome of many things.
But if we cannot even control our mind, which is internal to us,
what makes it easier to control something external to us?

Masquerade Party

Have you attended a Masquerade Party before?
We end up in bizarre costumes.
When friends come together,
we have a good laugh at each other
and we would enjoy the company of each other.

Life is like a Masquerade Party too.
We end up playing different roles in the society.
When friends come together with bizarre name cards,
we have a good laugh at each other,
and we would enjoy the company of each other.

Reincarnation is also like a Masquerade Party.
We end up in different life forms.
When dear friend, whatever different forms you appear before me,
and in whatever condition,
I shall always share with you my utmost loving kindness and compassion.

May we meet again in better circumstances.

Drawing a Picture

Sometimes when we draw on a new piece of blank paper, we messed up so much that we really don't know how to remedy it into something legitimate.

Some people would then erase the drawing and start afresh;
Some people would then put the drawing aside;
Some people would then tear up the drawing.

The society makes drawings out of every one as well.
If we do not give up hope, then there will be a second chance;
If we give up hope, then we will be put aside;
If we become negative, then we will be torn up.

Super Herd

Have you heard about the Super Herd in Kenya, Africa?

This is a group of 1.5 million Wildebeest (gnu) who travel together, chasing after the rains for rain ripened grass. Each wildebeest starts travelling together since it was born, and stop travelling till it dies. This group has no leaders. Any one of the Wildebeest could end up leading the group. Any wildebeest could leave the group any time (but they usually don't). As they travel, roughly in a clockwise fashion for 1,800 miles each year, they form characteristic long lines of running wildebeest. Even lions could not easily attact the group.

Life is a journey. It helps to have a large support group.

Market Place

Standing in the center of the market place
The unmoving me saw the moving.

A fruit seller tried to sell a woman a fruit;
Two ladies were busy telling the other what happened today;
A dog dragged its master across the grass;
A couple was dinning;
A ball was rolling away from the boy;
Ants were coming towards me.

What if they were actually the unmoving and I the moving?

Snow Flakes

Happiness is:
Catching a snow flake in your hands,
and noticing how Nature
takes care of every little things,
even snow flakes.

Welcome to Samsara

Many things happened today. Some people died, and some people were born. Some guys have become richer, and some guys have become poorer. Some places have become more peaceful, and some places have become more dangerous. Some sentient beings have become happier, and some sentient beings have become less happy.

Meanwhile, there was this flower that bloomed for the first time today. A butterfly and a bee visited this flower. A little boy who passed by sniffed the fragrance of the flower and skipped merrily away. A cat almost stepped on this flower as it was hunting for the grasshopper.

What a day for the flower.

Welcome to Samsara.
